To our valued patients,

I am writing to officially let you know about my upcoming retirement and closing of my dental practice on November 17, 2022. I appreciate the relationships that have been built with our patients over the past 39 years of practice in Santa Rosa.

We believe it is vital that you continue to receive regular dental care. Because our practice is not being transferred to another dentist when we close, we want to alert you that now is a good time to begin looking for a new dentist.

Appointments for cleaning and checkups between now and November 17^th are extremely limited. When you call for a cleaning/checkup appointment, you will most likely be put on a waiting list. We do have appointments open between now and November 17^th for patients in need of dental treatment with Dr. Danford. We will continue to be available for your dental emergency needs up until our final day of practice on November 17^th.

We want to assist you however we can during this transition time. See below for some recommendations on how to find a new dentist. At your request, we can email a copy of your dental record to the new dentist of your choice. A written authorization is required, and a downloadable copy of the authorization can be found here. You may sign and send that back to us by mail, or by email.

We will keep our same phone, text line and email address after our retirement date so you can reach us to arrange for the transfer of your records. We will plan to check our messages on a regular basis, but there may be a small delay in response time.

In addition, here are some general recommendations to keep in mind when looking for a new dentist:

• One of the very best ways to find a new dentist is to ask friends, family, neighbors and coworkers what their recommendations my be.

• If your are covered by dental insurance, check with your insurance company to see which dentists are covered under your plan, and to find out about the level of coverage for dentists who are outside of your network.

• The Redwood Empire Dental Society (REDS) maintains a list of local California Dental Assosciation members which can be found at www.redsdentists.org/members-by-area.html. REDS can also be contacted by phone at (707)546-7275.

• Research online to find more information about dentists you are considering, including their educational background, professional memberships, reviews from other patients, etc.

Most of our patients originally found us by word of mouth, so we trust you will be able to find a dentist uniquely suited to your needs using the recommendations of others and the other suggestions above.
